We have been spending tons of time in our back yard since summer has arrived and it has been great! Most of our time outside has been spent on our upper deck because our lower patio has been so boring. I have been aching to give my lower patio a little makeover so that we use it more. I have felt that its been wasted space underneath. To help glam it up a bit I added string lights, a few chairs, some small tables, and a fire pit; all from Target of course! I felt it needed a little color so I decided to make a bunting out of a reusable grocery bag.
This project is not only easy to make, it is also very inexpensive! I liked these subtle printed bags from Target and they were only $0.99/each! I used a total of 2 bags is all.
All you do for this project is cut the front side and the back side off of the bag. then you will cut each of those pieces in half length wise. Next, cut triangles from those long pieces.
Each bag gave me 16 triangle pennants, giving me 32 total triangles to work with! All I did was sew them onto some bakers twine I already had making this fun, patio accessory costing only $2 to make!
Above is a close-up of the subtle pattern that is on this bag. I really like it because it is noticeable enough but doesn’t scream Target! Of course you can find really cute reusable bags anywhere these days. Lots of cute patterns and colors are available for you to make buntings from; the possibilities are endless!
I hope to be spending a lot more time out on our back patio. I think I may even make more buntings from reusable bags, it’s kind of addicting! I really want to have a patio party now! You’re all invited! 🙂
