DIY Workout Top – Spray Paint

So, I have 5 of the same workout tank in different colors.  I love them because they are lightweight and never shrink!  Anyways, because all of them are plain, I wanted to add a little ‘pizazz’ to a few of them so…
I saw a can of spray paint in my garage.  It was fluorescent pink!  What?  Why would I have fluorescent pink in my garage?  Well, it’s from the workers that came and put our yard in last summer.  They use bright-colored spray paint on the dirt to mark off all the lines underground.  Sweet!  Free spray paint!

I figured fluorescent paint will show up on mostly any color.  So first, I made a stencil.  I had 12×12 paper in my stash.  I free-handed my own funky heart then cut it out of the paper.
Next, I took a garbage bag out of my pantry.  I traced my heart stencil onto the bag, then cut out around the heart.  Make sure to leave about a quarter of an inch around the actual tracing.
After this, I placed the heart paper on top of my garbage bag, the I duct-taped the edges so that no paint would get through.  This becomes your stencil, it completely covers your shirt so that it won’t get over-spray on it!
Lay your shirt underneath your stencil, and lay those on top of your drop cloth, or in this case, a cardboard box, because I was unprepared.  And yes, my garage floor now has pink over-spray.  My husband is very pleased.
Here’s a little tip:  Don’t spray too heavy!!  In fact, the lighter the coat, the better it turns out.  If you put down too thick of a coat, your heart will be hard and crunchy.  A light spray will do.
Pull your stencil off and you’re good to go workout in your awesome new, heart shirt!
TO WASH:
You can wash this shirt just like normal!  As long as you wash it in cold, it should be just fine.  I have washed this shirt about ten times now and I’ve had no problems!

Hey, I'm Kami!

Welcome to the blog

Wife to my Jr. High sweetheart, mother to three daughters. I have always loved being social and staying connected with other people who have similar interests to me. I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
