{Home Made} Key Lime Pie Ice Cream

Is there anything better than making home-made ice cream in the summer?  Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month?  Today I am sharing with you a home-made Key Lime
Pie Ice Cream recipe from one of my favorite food authors, Wendy Paul.

Wendy has a new book out, “101 Gourmet Ice Cream Creations“.  This book is filled with every good thing you can think of – in ice cream form.  You will find ice cream recipes such as: coconut cream pie, s’more, chocolate hazelnut truffle, root beer float, fried ice cream, and many more!  She also includes recipes for toppings, milkshakes, ice cream pies, ice cream cakes, and other ice cream treats.  I’m telling ya, this book has everything!
You can purchase the book HERE

Now, here is a the Key Lime Pie Ice Cream recipe that I am sharing from her book…

{Home Made} Key Lime Pie Ice Cream
Creamy Vanilla (basic recipe)
-you will be adding this to the recipe below
This recipe contains less fat than Rich and Creamy Vanilla, and does not have any eggs in it. Perfect for specific dietary needs, but still has the heavy creamy texture you desire.
½ to ¾ cup sugar
2 cups cream
1 cup 2% milk
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
If you wanted only vanilla ice cream then you would just put this in your ice cream maker.  Since we are adding Key Lime to it, you won’t put it in your ice cream maker just yet!

Key Lime Pie
1 Basic recipe (Creamy Vanilla mentioned above)
2 limes zested and juiced or Nellie and Joe’s Key Lime juice
½ cup crushed graham crackers
Add the lime zest to your Basic recipe, whisking together until
combined. Place mixture in your machine and follow manufacturers directions in
freezing. The last 5 minutes of the freezing process, add the lime juice and the
crushed graham crackers.
I know that I will be using my 101 Gourmet Ice Cream Creations book a lot this summer.  You all need to check it out because seriously, the recipes are amazing!

    Hey, I'm Kami!

    Welcome to the blog

Wife to my Jr. High sweetheart, mother to three daughters. I have always loved being social and staying connected with other people who have similar interests to me. I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
