Golden Oreos – the homemade recipe

As you know, I’ve been sharing homemade versions of Oreo Cookie flavors with you this week (see recipes at the end of this post).  Today I am sharing the Golden Oreo’s recipe.

I’m very familiar with the Oreos Golden flavor as I feel like we had them a lot as a child.  I thought it’d be fun to make a homemade version of these so I put my inner Betty Crocker to the test and started concocting a recipe.  I found at the store this Golden Butter Recipe cake mix that I’d never heard of before.  I thought I’d give it a whirl for these cookies and I am so glad I did because they turned out magnificant!

Golden Oreos Homemade Recipe
1 pkg Pillsbury Golden Butter Recipe cake mix
2/3 C Crisco
2 eggs
splash of vanilla

Mix everything together, but don’t overmix!  Use the end of a melon baller to measure out the dough to roll into balls so they are all the same size.  Roll them into balls then place on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  Overcooking will result in hard cookies and we want these to be soft, chewy, and fluffy!  Let cool on a rack.

Filling:
1 pkg. powdered sugar (2 lb)
1 stick of butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

Mix together until smooth.  You won’t use a whole 2 lb package of powdered sugar, just taste to see how sweet you like it!

*This recipe makes about 3 dozen sandwiched cookies.

Here’s a little demonstration of how I like to frost my Oreos!

Along with this recipe, you can see my other home made Oreo goodness recipes:

And if you haven’t checked out my viral Forbidden Oreo Cake yet, do it NOW!!!

ENJOY!

Hey, I'm Kami!

I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
