DIY Glass Ball Ornament – TINFOIL!

All this week I will be sharing with you some ideas on how to transform your glass ball ornaments.  There are so many fun ideas out there, but these require NO PAINT.  Here is the first one I am sharing with you:

Cover in Tinfoil!!
I was rummaging through my kitchen while I had these little glass balls on my mind and came across my Aluminum Foil and thought, ‘Why not’, right?  This is a super-cheap way to spruce up your glass ornaments.
Here’s how you do it:
Tear small amount off of your tinfoil roll (like 5-6 inches) and then crumbled it up into a ball.  Carefully start unraveling it and straighten it out.  This will give it the textured look.  Now, start ripping small pieces off, like 1/2 in x 1/2 inch.  They do not have to be perfect squares, in fact, they don’t have to be any shape at all!!

After you have all of your pieces ripped off, start hot gluing each piece one by one on, starting at the bottom of the ball working up.  Here’s the key: only put a small dab of hot glue in the center of your piece.  You want your sides to come up a bit and it will give it more texture.  Also, slightly overlap each piece so that you get a tapered look.  Do this to the whole ball and make sure to do this well at the top where the hanger hooks on so that you don’t see any glass showing through.
And that’s it!  It does require a little bit of time and patience.  Just make sure to turn on a good Christmas movie while you’re doing it!  This will add so much ‘bling’ to your tree and no one will ever guess that it’s made from tinfoil!
