Why I became an artist for Maskcara Beauty

maskcara beauty direct sales

It wasn’t like me to get involved with any sort of direct sales company.  Not because I don’t like them, but mostly because I didn’t know enough about how they work behind the scenes.  I recently became an independent artist for Maskcara Beauty, a makeup company developed by former beauty blogger, Cara Brooks.   I enrolled the end of January 2017, just two weeks after her sales program started.  I hit the enroll button very impulsively but based on what I already knew about Cara and her brand, I felt confident in the decision I was making.

Cara Brooks started out as a beauty blogger and I followed her for a long time.  When she came out with her first ever contouring palette she visited the city near me and did a makeup class.  I attended it, I bought the makeup, I liked the makeup, I fell in love.  Fast forward three years later and I saw on social media that she was coming out with her Independent Artist program and I paused.  Why did this opportunity make me pause versus all the other direct sales opportunities that I was faced with on social media every day?  I all of the sudden really wanted to become an artist for Maskcara Beauty, “I think I can do this”, I thought to myself.  I clicked over to her website and just pretended like I wanted to join for a moment.  I clicked all the necessary buttons to begin signing up and a message popped up that said, “enrollment is unavailable”.  I finally got the courage to do something out of my comfort zone and they wouldn’t let me!  What was going on?  I messaged the girl that had first posted about the artist program and asked if enrollment would be opening again soon and she told me it would in the next few days.  So for the next few days that is all I could think about.  “Do I really wanna do this?” I thought, “is this something that I can even be good at?”.  I love makeup and love all things beauty so as long as I was passionate about it then I knew I’d become good at it.

The next day that girl messaged me back and told me that enrollments were opening again that night at 7pm, I had to make my decision! I set the alarm on my phone for 6:55pm so I could make a final decision and go get on my computer.  I didn’t know how long enrollments would be open so I wanted to make sure I signed up right away.  7:00pm came.  I hesitated for a moment because it was so out of my comfort zone to do this.  I am not a professional at makeup and I am not a salesperson!  But I did it, I signed up!  My first thought was, “What did I just do!”.

My husband was out of town for business.  I was not going to tell him that I signed up for a direct sales company!  He has always been such a skeptic when it comes to multi-level marketing, just like most people are, and I was a little too.  But I tell you, this was different; I had a really good feeling about this!  The next day or two I started getting confident and was telling myself that I was going to give this 110%.  I texted one of my good friends who has done very well with DoTerra, another direct sales business.  After a few questions she really encouraged me and gave me hope.
When my hubby got home from his work trip, I knew I had to break the news to him.  He is a very supportive husband and has always supported me on all my crazy adventures (which, if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I like to mix it up a lot!).  I knew when I told him that he would be supportive, I was just anxious to see what his initial reaction would be!  I slowly told him, I think he thought I was going to tell him that something horrible had happened because of how long it was taking the words to come out of my mouth!!  Overall, he was excited for me.  He was a little shocked that I had joined an MLM but I told him all the reasons why I felt like it was the right fit for me and he seemed to agree.

Hey, I'm Kami!

Welcome to the blog

Wife to my Jr. High sweetheart, mother to three daughters. I have always loved being social and staying connected with other people who have similar interests to me. I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
