Interchangeable Chalkboard Pennant Banner

I have never used the Chalkboard Vinyl before.  I thought I would try it out by making a pennant banner.  I love this idea because you can switch out the words for different seasons and occasions.  This was so easy!
I bought my chalkboard vinyl at JoAnn’s.  It comes on a bolt and you can by it by the yard!  Before using it, you must prep it by rubbing chalk all over it in both directions.  Then you gently wipe it off with a dry cloth.
I made two of these banners.  On one of the banners I wanted to make the pennants removable so that I could choose how many I wanted to put depending on what word(s) I was going to be writing (pictured above).  I used tiny clothes pins to hook them onto the fabric line.

On the other banner, I chose to sew 9 pennants onto the banner.  (pictured below)
I decided 9 was a good number because it gave you enough to write Happy Birthday, Happy Easter, Happy Summer, Happy Spring…(and more).  With the extra pennants I drew pictures, like this Easter Egg.

A good tip when writing with chalk is to have Q-tips on hand.  This will help you get straight lines and erase where there is excess chalk.

Our church did a silent auction to raise money for the youth’s camps this summer.  I donated this banner and packaged it with chalk like this:

After making your first chalkboard pennant banner you will be addicted!  These are so fun and make the perfect gift!

Hey, I'm Kami!

Welcome to the blog

Wife to my Jr. High sweetheart, mother to three daughters. I have always loved being social and staying connected with other people who have similar interests to me. I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
