Becoming an independent artist for Maskcara – frequently asked questions

questions about being a Maskcara artist

Maybe you have been hearing how awesome becoming an artist for Maskcara Beauty is but in the back of your mind you’re a little skeptical.  There has been so much hype about the company and you’d like to know more about it and you have questions.  I am an independent artist for Maskcara and have had a lot of people ask me questions about joining the fast-growing business.  Here are some of the frequently asked questions I get about becoming an independent artist for Maskcara.

Becoming an independent artist for Maskcara – frequently asked questions

*The answers to these questions have been updated since this article was posted.  Updated July 6, 2020.

When did the Maskcara Artist program launch?
January 2017

How many artists are there today?
Just over 13,000 (July 2020)

How much does it cost to join?
You can choose the basic kit ($199) or the pro kit ($399)

Are there any other fees I should know about?
There is a fee of $11.95/month you will be paying to sustain your back office and replicated site fees.  Both are needed to sale to your customers

What is the minimum amount I have to sell each month?
None!  There is no minimum amount that you have to sell to earn your own sales commissions.  If you choose to start building a team and want to start earning bonuses and downline commissions, there will be a small requirement once you rank higher.

Do I get a discount as an artist?
Yes, you always get a 20% off discount.  There is also an option to pay full price for your items but make up to 40% commission on them and have them count towards earning free product!

What other artists perks are there?
A lot, really.  But you’ll love this one: You can be the hostess of your own parties and you can keep them open for as long as you’d like!  This means that you can wait until your party earns enough money to get products completely free!

What commissions can artists make?
Every artist starts the month off at 20% commissions.  The more you sell, the more commission you’ll make.  You can make up to 40% commission plus bonuses and if you’re building a team, downline commissions as well!

How often do artists get paid?
Once a week and once monthly.  So technically, 5 times a month!  Each weekly commission payment is based on your personal sales.  Each monthly payment consists of any bonuses you have, the extra percentage payments >20%, and downline commissions.

How do they pay artists?
They have a secure website that all payments go to.  You can choose to have them transferred to a special Maskcara card (which is adorable), or have them transferred to your bank account.

Is there a lot of competition between distributors?
This part is awesome!  Artists will not compete for a customer each time they make a sell because once a customer buys from you, they are your customer for life!  The computer registers them as being yours so you will get the credit each time they login to purchase.  This way you can build a great relationship with them and you don’t do all the hard work of getting a customer, then losing them to someone else!

Do artists keep inventory?
No!  It’s really amazing that we don’t keep inventory and here is why: (a) it’s a pain in the butt.  No one wants to have inventory on had and hope that they’ll get rid of it. Also, who wants to be going to the post office and shipping out items every day? (b) if you have product on hand to sell, you won’t make commission off of it.  The Maskcara corporate team has made it so easy on us.  They package it for us, they ship it for us, they deal with returns/exchanges; and their customer service is superb!

If I become an artist, do I have to build a team?
No!  You do not have to build a team nor will you be pressured to build a team.  You can make a good income off of your own sales commissions alone, however; if you want to eventually have a passive income and earn more money then building a team is the way to go!

Is it better to join under another Maskcara Arist or directly under corporate?
I cannot stress this enough!  JOIN UNDER AN ARTIST!  There are a lot of reasons for this but here is the main factor: corporate doesn’t know how to sell like an upline girl does. Sure, they may answer questions you may have via email, but that’s about it.  If you have an upline girl she will be able to mentor you, train you, and give you the resources that you need to succeed.  Plus, she WANTS you to succeed.  Also, you will be able to develop a personal relationship with her and in return, you will have more success.

I think that a lot of people have misconceptions that if they join directly under corporate then they are somehow ‘higher up’.  This isn’t true, especially with Maskcara’s compensation plan.  Every artist has equal opportunity to make the same amount of money.  It is definitely a disadvantage to join under corporate.

So how do I decide which artist to join under?
Well, hopefully you have been directed here by another artist or because you have heard about Maskcara by someone who is already an artist.  OR maybe you just randomly stumbled across this article and don’t know anything about it yet (that’s where I can come in to help you!).  Whatever the case, make sure that you join under an artist that you respect.  Join under someone that is the type of artist that you’d like to be.

In my case, I chose to join under someone who has been in the beauty industry for years.  She knows a ton about makeup and I trusted her opinion about Maskcara.  My other leader above her is a powerhouse when it comes to the business side of Maskcara.  I have learned so much from both of them.  I thank my lucky stars that I have the upline I do because now I can teach and train the girls under me the same things I have been taught.

What countries is the Maskcara artist program currently available in?
United States (July 2017), Canada

Where do artists get their marketing material for social media, parties, etc?
We are provided with both paper and electronic marketing materials.  Artists are able to access photos for social media via a special hub online called Maskcara HQ.

What is the artist community like?
I have been so proud to be a part of the amazing Maskcara community.  I feel accepted and feel like everyone is rooting for everyone.  It is such a positive group to be a part of.

There is a joined Facebook group for all of the artists where we can go in and ask questions, get feedback, help each other, etc.  Cara, the creator of Maskcara, gets on monthly and does live webinars and we can all be a part of the conversation.

What is the compensation plan like?
The Maskcara compensation plan was created for us to succeed and get the income we deserve for our work.  If you are interested in seeing the comp plan, I will email it to you.  Email me at info@SweetCharli.com and put “Maskcara Comp Plan” in the subject title.

I signed up as a Ind. Maskcara Artist under my consultant, she has agreed to let me have my friends who purchased through me in parties, but my friends are unable to sign up because it says duplicate email…we are unable to find how they can set up a new account as me as their IMA, without using another email address.ReplyCancel

    • sweetcharliOctober 16, 2020 - 5:51 pm

Yes, this can be a problem but can be fixed if you email the Maskcara ask team. And if your friends and family email them saying they would like their account to be switched to under you, they will most likely do it!ReplyCancel

Hey, I'm Kami!

Welcome to the blog

Wife to my Jr. High sweetheart, mother to three daughters. I have always loved being social and staying connected with other people who have similar interests to me. I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
